| We clear the air on aftermarket forced
induction options for Nissan’s GP Patrol. Photos by PHILIP LORD.
When we hitched up a boat and went towing
in the August issue’s tow test, we intended to spice up the factory wagons
sampled with aftermarket modified vehicles we thought would be well-suited
to towing - namely the Sprintex supercharged and Safari Turbo Systems turbocharged
Patrol 4.2 litre diesels. Delays left us Sprintex-less, but we did
manage to get hold of a Safari Turbo Systems intercooled turbo TD 42 Patrol,
and it came up trumps as the best value-for-money heavy-duty towing vehicle
in the comparison.
Since then a Sprintex supercharger has
been fitted to Contributing Editor Whiting’s TD 42 Patrol, so the stage
was set for a side-by-side comparison between the aftermarket forced induction
alternatives.
